If you have forgotten to take the meat out of the freezer for dinner and want to thaw it out quickly, try putting the well sealed packet of meat in a bowl or sink of cold water.

300-400 gms of meat will thaw in 1-2 hours depending on the room temperature.

You can do this with any frozen food – just make sure the water can’t get into the food product.

Why the cold water treatment works better than sitting on the kitchen bench is a mystery to me. Anyone got any ideas?
