Shady outside play area

You can make  a shady outside play area by hanging a large bed sheet over the clothesline.

Water play

(You MUST supervise this with young children!)

The main ingredients are:

• The kitchen sink, bathroom hand-basin, a plastic bucket, or a no longer used baby bath
• Water from the tap
• Stool or step for child to stand on.

Distracting young children

Young children can be easily distracted from something that has upset them or could be a danger to them.  Simply show them a different toy, pick up a book or start playing with blocks.
